What makes a great voice over podcast? There is a mess of them out there, but which ones are worth your precious time and attention?

To me, a great VO podcast has to be current – this industry changes at light speed and if your last episode was 4 months ago or you publish when you feel like it, you’re not keeping the community up to date.

A great voiceover podcast has to be educational and insightful and give solid advice on the industry. If it’s full of get rich quick and Fiverr advice, it’s just garbage.

And a great voice over podcast has to be listenable. The host or hosts have to be engaging and interesting. If they feature guests, the guests have to have insights and stories to tell, and the hosts should let the guests talk.

Today, I’m going to give you 14 of the Top Podcasts in Voice Over in no particular order. In my opinion, all 14 meet these criteria, and are super helpful to learn about the industry.

The VO Breakfast Show with Carin Gilfry and Jamie Muffett

Carin is the Vice President and co-founder of NAVA, the National Association of Voice Actors, and Jamie is a prolific voice actor and audio engineer. Together they both also run the VOcation and eVOcation conferences. They cover everything from tech to relationships to FOMO.

These are two of the smartest, most experienced people in our industry and you’d do well to educate yourself with the VO Breakfast Show.

VO Booth Besties with Jen Greenfield, Aleesha Bake, and Jen Tophoney

If you’re new to the voice over industry, then this podcast is for you. Jen, Aleesha, and Jen have built a large following in a relatively short time by interviewing fantastic guests and focusing on educating the newer voice actor. One of the best features of VO Booth Besties is their VO Demo Producer Series. If you’re working toward your first demos, or a vet looking to update your demos, I highly recommend a listen.

Sound Advice with Kate McClanaghan and Jeff Finney

Kate and Jeff do a really great job dishing, well, sound advice on for voice actors who are serious about building a successful career. Topics range from auditioning to branding to acting technique. Kate and Jeff are both accomplished voice over pros, and this podcast offers a wealth of information on branding, marketing, and the technical aspects of the industry.

Kate and Jeff bring their deep industry knowledge to each episode, focusing on the importance of creating a strong personal brand and effectively marketing yourself in a crowded field. They also get into the tech, offering advice on everything from setting up a home studio to mastering your audio production skills. What makes this podcast stand out is Kate and Jeff’s ability to break down complex info into easily digestible advice that voice actors can immediately apply to their own careers.

VO Sermons with Terry Daniel

Terry cuts straight to the heart of the voice over industry with a mix of practical advice and personal insight as a seasoned voice actor and VO coach with years of experience. If you like a no-BS approach to the business, you’d dig this one.

Terry shares his wisdom on a variety of topics, from finding your unique voice and marketing yourself effectively, to staying motivated and resilient. What sets this podcast apart is Terry’s straight-up and funny style.

Whether you’re just starting out or have been in the industry for years, you’ll find Terry’s advice helpful and inspiring.

This Week in VO with J. Michael Collins

Every week JMC, or sometimes a guest host, offers a deep dive into the latest trends, news, and strategies within the voice over industry. JMC has won more awards as a talent and coach than just about anyone, and the podcast is a treasure trove of knowledge for both aspiring and established voice actors.

J. Michael’s experience and his network of top-tier pros, give him a unique perspective and a comprehensive view of what’s happening in the VO world. Each episode features interviews with industry experts, covering topics like new technology, market shifts, and career strategies.

Atlanta VO Studio with Heidi Rew and Mike Stoudt

VO Gurus with Linda Bruno

VO Gurus has it all - humor, wisdom, and practical advice to help voice actors navigate this crazy clown car of an industry. Linda has been a high-level VO since the 90s and the episodes are filled with real-world tips, personal stories, and a lighthearted approach that makes even the most challenging topics feel manageable.

Whether she’s discussing the ins and outs of auditioning, the importance of self-marketing, or the best ways to handle client relationships, Linda’s advice is always practical and grounded in her decades of experience.

The VO Roundtable with Emma O’Neill and Mike Tobin

The unique thing about the VO Roundtable is, while yes, it is a podcast, it’s recorded live on Clubhouse each week, so it’s often interactive.

Each episode features an industry pro who shares their insights on a variety of topics, from the technical aspects of voice over work to the business side of the industry. This podcast is super valuable for those looking to get a deeper understanding of the industry and learn from a wide range of professionals. Emma and Mike are both big-time talents and are hooked into a strong network which makes for a great list of guests.

Speechless with Kim Wilson and Natasha Marchewka

Speechless offers a fresh and empowering perspective on the voice over industry, particularly from the viewpoint of female voice actors. Kim, Natasha and their guests share VO business how-tos, the awkward, the embarrassing, you know… real stuff. If you don’t mind real talk and a little language, you’ll dig this one.

Their guests are most often, but not always women, especially those kicking ass in voice over, offering advice on how to navigate the biz with authenticity and confidence. Topics covered include everything from finding your voice and developing your brand to balancing work and personal life. Kim and Natasha’s candid and relatable approach makes Speechless a valuable resource for anyone looking to succeed in voice over, particularly women who are looking for inspiration and guidance in a male-dominated industry.

TriVO Pursuits with Mark Rider, Mandy Fisher, and Matt Baker

TriVO takes its name from having three great hosts, all of whom are heavy hitters in voice over and because they sprinkle in trivia while talking about their thriving careers and issues in the industry.

They each have a killer network, and combined, that often means interviews with industry vets like Joe Cipriano, Marc Graue, Alicyn Packard, Dave Fennoy, and more.

Think of TriVO Pursuits as a podcast meets trivia night at the bar. It’s a ton of fun, so if you don’t like fun do not listen to this podcast.

The VO Social

“The VO Social” was originally hosted by Leah Marks and Nic Redman, and is now hosted by the powerhouse British husband and wife team of Helen and Rob Bee. If you don’t know Helen and Rob, Rob is a VO producer, engineer & home studio guru and Helen is a VO branding, websites & self-promotion expert so between them they cover a lot of ground.

The VO Social podcast features laid-back chats and discussions about all aspects of a voice actor's career. With guests from across the industry, the Bees unlock what it takes to make voice acting your career. One of the great things about The VO Social is Helen and Rob’s commitment to fostering a sense of community among voice actors. Y’all know I’m big on community.

Making WAVs with Bobbi Maxwell and Kevin Kilpatrick

Making WAVs is the rebranding of what used to be called the Middle Class VO Podcast also with Bobbi and Kevin and has some fun recurring segments like the Cold-Read Challenge, Nightmare Sessions, and Identify the Audio.

Again, great interviews, diverse topics, awesome guests, and both Bobbi and Kevin have been around a long time and know the biz inside and out.
